Juneteenth Celebration at NWACC
Join in the Juneteenth Celebration at NWACC on June 11th!
Juneteenth is the oldest nationally celebrated commemoration of the ending of slavery in the United States, and NWACC is partnering with Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art and University of Arkansas African & African American Studies to host a celebration with guest speakers, art activities, games, live music and delicious food, as well as a panel discussion and live recording of the podcast UnDisciplined. They will be discussing the topic of ongoing movements towards freedom in Northwest Arkansas. Bring the family, friends, blankets and lawn chairs!

Second Annual Black Film Showcase
The Second Annual Black Film Showcase offers a deep dive into African American film experiences in Northwest Arkansas in an effort to raise awareness, education, exposure, and networking opportunities for Black Arkansans. Your host, Marissa Culbreath, will introduce the evening’s works, including short film screenings and a feature-length film in the Great Hall, followed by filmmaker discussions moderated by Ify Egbosimba.

About this event:
We have DJ SQUABY setting the vibe for the night! We’ll have light hors d’oeuvres, bars, a photo booth, and a room full of MELANIN! Go ahead and get your fit together and be prepared to have a good night!
This event is semi-formal. Sneakers are optional. We can’t wait to celebrate with you!
The Dirty South: Contemporary Art, Material Culture, and the Sonic Impulse exhibit
As a part of the Juneteenth Celebration, the exhibit will be free both Saturday, June 18th and Sunday, June 19th.
The Dirty South: Contemporary Art, Material Culture, and the Sonic Impulse, organized by the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, examines the aesthetic and musical traditions of southern Black culture in the past century, influences now common throughout the American South and contemporary American art and culture. In an immersive experience that engages multiple senses, The Dirty South spotlights the southern landscape through its musical heritage, spiritual complexity, and regional swagger.
