EVENT: The Rally for Body Liberation For All

By Pamela Acosta

The Rally for Body Liberation will be hosted on Saturday, August 27th at 10 am in Conway at Simon Park.

The Faulkner County Coalition for Social Justice is hosting a free, family-friendly public event to provide information on safe and legal abortion care, share personal stories, and connect locally on reproductive justice issues.

Event organizers will be providing information on the types of abortion, how to access abortions, support services and mutual aid for people seeking abortion care, and details on getting involved in Conway on reproductive justice issues.

As part of the event, there will be an open mic portion for community members to speak and anyone is welcome to speak. There will also be voter registration available and a designated children’s area.

The Arkansas Abortion Support Network, the Arkansas Coalition for Reproductive Justice, Ujima Maternity Network, Plan C, and local community members will all participate in the public event.

Organizers of the event are giving priority to those most affected by the Roe v. Wade decision, including members of the Black, brown, indigenous, undocumented, immigrant, disabled, poor/working class, and queer/trans communities. The event will center around those stories with direct experience of abortion, especially those in marginalized communities.

There will be protest marshals supporting the rally, street medics for any medical care, legal observers, and security teams to keep everyone safe.

Event organizers will also provide areas to sit, a canopy providing some shade, and a Covid safety station. Masks are strongly encouraged.

Volunteer and speaking opportunities are still available, as well as opportunities to donate to cover the cost of the event.
