The North Little Rock activist says she’s running to heal the land.
Goldi Gaines is challenging Republican incumbent Tommy Land in the Arkansas Commissioner of State Land race. The North Little Rock Democrat publicly announced her candidacy on Facebook yesterday afternoon.
Gaines is the CEO of Arkansas Anti-Poverty Group and a former advance medical support assistant for the Department of Veterans Affairs Chief of Staff. The focus of her campaign is education, voter registration and innovation, according to a press release.
“I’m running for Arkansas Commissioner of State Lands to heal the land,” Gaines said in a statement. “It was in the trenches that I earned my stripes. I got a close look at hardships that come with poor legislation and education of God’s people.”
Gaines grew up in central Arkansas and graduated from North Little Rock High School in 1994. She received an Associate of Arts degree from Pulaski Technical College in 2004. In 2010, Gaines graduated from the University of Phoenix with her Bachelor of Science in Business Management. In 2014, she earned a Master of Science in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.
The general election is Nov. 8, 2022.
